Little did the Georgia brothers know- these days foreshadowed a future that lay ahead.  Like the antique wood they reclaim to built quality furniture,...

Reclaimed Wood Bookshelf

November 11, 2014December 31, 2014 by sonsofsawdust

Here is a reclaimed wood bookshelf that we built recently. The wood was repurposed from a farmhouse that was built in the 1870's. We love the aesthetics of this old wood, like the notched out side of the bookshelf. You just can't find character like this in the new wood that you would buy at the lumberyard. That's...

Farm Tables

October 15, 2014December 27, 2016 by sonsofsawdust

All of our farm tables are built from authentic reclaimed wood. We build tables with wood we have salvaged from old barns, historical houses, and old chicken houses. Most of our wood is over 100 years old and mill sawn or "circle sawn".  The old growth trees that were cut down at the turn of the century...

  • It’s getting cold outside and this piece that we just built for Hotel Indigo has us wanting to cozy up in their awesome new lobby. This is the entry console for @indigoathens and we’re thrilled with how the lighter color pops against the darker shou-sugi-ban charred walls. We can’t wait to stop by and have a drink in the newly renovated lobby!! 🍹 🍺 🥂
  • It’s Giving Tuesday and we want to tell you about our friends @nucisspace.
When we moved to Athens 7 years ago, one of the first places we plugged into was Nuçi’s Space. 💙 It’s truly a pillar in our community and has helped and served so many over the years.

The Phillips family founded Nuçi’s Space in honor of their 22-year-old son Nuçi, who in 1996 killed himself after a long battle with major depression. Nuçi was a talented musician, and the family saw a need for a place that could offer an easily accessible way of treating and supporting those who suffer from depression and other similar disorders. It can be challenging to ask for help, and it can be frustrating trying to find the right care. Nuçi’s is the bridge that helps connect those of us that are struggling with the resources we need.
With a focus on musicians, Nuçi’s Space advocates for and helps to alleviate the suffering for those living with a brain illness and fights to end the stigma of mental illness. Their mission is to prevent suicide. They provide a health and resource center for musicians as a safe space to seek support and guidance, and they provide access to affordable professional care. They also offer practice spaces for bands, music gear & equipment rental, and they offer music camps for kids! We can’t say enough good things about this place, it is very near & dear to our hearts.
There are several ways you can give to Nuçi’s Space!
1. If you’re local to the Athens area, come to @thefoundryathens tonight for Nuçi’s annual fundraiser: Athens Unplugged. A night of Athens musicians doing Athens cover songs 🎶
2. Enter the Nuçi Pass Raffle to win a year of free shows for you & a plus 1! Free access to 21 music venues in Atlanta, Athens and Macon for the year of 2020!
3. Enter to win a pass that gets you a pair of tickets to EVERY @widespreadpanichq show on their 2020 tour! Your year begins with the New Year’s Eve Run 2019 in Atlanta! Today is the last day to enter!
4. Just donate! Give whatever amount your heart desires to give, to this amazing place that gives hope to so many.
Click on the link in @nucisspace bio to do any or all of the above!!! Show some love by giving them a follow ❤️
  • Happy Thanksgiving y’all! One of the things I’m thankful for is my son Linden. Linden is 11 years old and he’s an incredible artist! He’s always exploring new ways to create his art. He’s excellent at drawing, painting, sculpting with clay, and he’s brilliant with his felt creatures he creates. It’s become very clear to us that this is his gifting and so we wanted to share this video with you, so you can experience Linden’s heartfelt art.

It’s hard hearing from him that he gets bullied and picked on, because he’s not quite like the other kids. I’m so proud of him and the way he deals with the pain by pouring his emotions into his art!
Art is his therapy, art is his safe place, art is his escape from reality, and it helps him to cope with anything. He releases and expresses all of his emotions through—creation.
I’ve learned so much from this young man. He’s inspired me to rediscover my art and the ways that I created as a kid. His passion for creating art has reconnected me with the little boy that I left behind when I was young. He’s taught me the importance of following my passion and living in the moment. I’m so proud of Linden for being vulnerable enough to share his heart with the world through his art. I hope that you enjoy his creations as much as we do. If you click the link in our bio you can see the full 5 minute long documentary that we created with Linden.
We hope that everyone had an amazing day with loved ones today. We’re so thankful for all of you and the support you’ve given us over the years! Happy Thanksgiving!!! -Matt (You can also follow Linden on Instagram @lindenhobbs)
  • Congrats to @aventinerome on their grand opening today! 🍾 We’re so grateful we had the chance to work on this amazing project with @summerwilliamsdesign_swd. We built several square tables, a few round tables, and 3 large trestle tables that are perfect for family gatherings. 🥧 We can’t wait to enjoy a meal here soon! 🍽
