HGTV

We had the pleasure of working with HGTV on the 2017 Dream Home. We were contacted by Brian Patrick Flynn from Flynnside Out Productions to build a hand crafted barn door for the living room.  Located right off the front entry of the home, the serene living room with beautiful views of the pool and backyard is packed with layers of texture and neutral colors that were inspired by the stunning landscape outside. We finished the door off with a milk paint finish which speaks to the ancient technique used by our ancestors. Milk paint has been used for thousands of years. It is extremely durable, often lasting for hundreds of years if protected from the elements. The wood that we used for this barn door was salvaged from a school house that was originally built in the early 1800's and still has some of the original milk paint on it. Saving old structures like this schoolhouse, which had been abandoned and forgotten for over a hundred years, and making it into something fresh and beautiful is one of the things that we love most about reclaimed wood!
